The growth and improvement I've observed in Jamie over the past several years is testament to the idea that love and persistence can move mountains!
When I initially met Jamie in November 2001, he was experiencing sensory integration problems, recurrent upper respiratory infections, digestive distress, night terrors and insomnia. My role, as a Naturopath, was to help Jamie with an all-natural approach to his healing. Our plan included classical homeopathy, clinical nutrition and plant medicine. Homeopathy reintegrated psyche and body; while clinical nutrition and plant medicine provided the building blocks for healthy immunity, detoxification and neurotransmission. As Jamie lived out of town, I kept in close contact with his family regarding his progress.
Over the years I have watched Jamie blossom. I enjoy our visits and find it rewarding to observe how health in mind and body can be optimized through natural health care methods. Jamie is now a big kid who hangs out with friends, interacts with adults, goes to school like any other child and happily sleeps through the night!

“As a physician, watching Jamie's transformation has been most gratifying. When he first came in he was a hyperactive, frequently hysterical youngster who would never even make eye contact with us and couldn't say a word. It was a joy to see him transform into a calm, talkative, happy child who would even let us draw his blood without a tear. Seeing patients like Jamie makes being a doctor a pleasure!”

“When I first met Jamie, soon after his fourth birthday his gross motor coordination was out of sync and he was very unaware of where he was in space. His movements were very quick. He was often dangerously wild in the therapy clinic.
Jamie would seek intensity of sensory input that was outrageous, he would engage in climbing and crashing activities for hours. Jamie was sensitive to some sounds and touch at that time, but he slowly overcame these over-sensitivities and was better able to integrate the various forms of sensory input during therapy sessions. He became better able to communicate effectively and often engaged in longer periods of eye contact and meaningful conversation. His heart seemed to be opening as he was much more engaged with me and other people and kids.
Jamie came to Unique Prints in October 2004 for an intensive tune-up. We did OT (Occupational therapy) and BR (Brain Respiration). His level of maturity was age appropriate and he was able to imitate many imaginative games independently. He could follow multiple step and more complicated verbal instructions. His body-brain connection was awesome. His eyes were full of sparkles and lots of hugs for everybody. He seemed content, self-confident and truly happy!”

"James Vance has been my very best friend since childhood. When I learned he had an autistic son, it broke my heart because I had had some experience with an autistic child (the nephew of my former girlfriend.) That child seemed like any other two-year old, but as he grew older, he slowly became distanced from his family, remaining like a two-year old even though he was three, then four years old. I hurt for my best friend because I knew his son faced a similar fate.
The first time I saw Jamie, he acted like a normal baby, just as my girlfriend's nephew had. After that initial visit, I saw Jamie only once or twice a year. One summer, when Jamie was about two or three years old, I went to see the Vances in Denver and that's when I noticed Jamie's withdrawal and how apparent the (developmental) gap between Jamie and his twin brother, Jack, really was. I observed James and Krista and their helpers working hard with Jamie everyday and I remember thinking, “To what end?” I knew how tough this was going to be on them as Jamie got older because nothing would change, no matter how hard they tried.
The next time I saw the Vance family was in California and I remember being completely blown away when I heard Jamie speak clearly for the first time. I nearly fell over backwards. I knew this was something remarkable because it was my understanding that as an autistic child, he most likely would never be able to communicate clearly. Since then, each time I would see Jamie over the years, his progress seemed nothing less than astonishing. The gap between Jamie and Jack began to close and Jamie began to shine in his own talents and character. I have become very emotionally attached to him and have watched in utter amazement at his improvement over the years. Jamie has grown into a beautiful, talented little boy (on whom my six-year old daughter has already claimed dibs!) I can't help but believe that his advancements have been a combination of a lot of hard work and a complete miracle. Jamie truly is a miracle!"

“ Jamie, my grandson, had a serious problem. I noticed in him some classical signs of autism – abnormal behavior, no eye contact, no language. After forty years active practice in alternative medicine, I was hoping and praying for a miracle…Jamie showed much improvement from many therapies including DMSA, the use of Metal-Free, and work with Dr. Max Collins, and the Collins diode. Dr. Collins worked with Jamie to detoxify the mercury from his body. Today Jamie is a pleasant, attentive, athletic, focused, and smiling seven year old.”

“I remember we took Jamie into a restaurant in Santa Barbara and he started screaming, tugging at his ears and grabbing at his mom. He was inconsolable. The noises and all the people were too much for him. I took him outside and he became calm. This was one of the moments when I realized that this was a serious problem. Now we talk, we play, and I can take him into restaurants without any problems."

“I remember being very impressed with Jamie's progress subsequent to the Laser Diode Treatment. He had moved and I had not seen him in approximately four months. He exhibited significant gains in all area of language – receptive, expressive, social interaction, and social language. The level of gain he exhibited in this short period did not appear to be due solely to therapy assistance.”
